   Hand swage receivers and studs are used in combination when one prefers to have the fittings hidden in the wood post of a cable railing and balustrade deck system. The receiver is designed with a domed or button type head that can accept a hex type wrench. Inside the tube section of the receiver, the inside walls are threaded and ready to accept the swage stud - often referred to as an invisi-stud because it disappears into the receiver tube as it is threaded into it. The cable is inserted into the hollow section of the invisi-stud and then crimped three times to secure the cable to the stud. Although there is a size for 1/4 inch cable, the most common sizes are designed to work with 1/8 inch and 3/16 inch cable. For maximum resistance to corrosion, all hand swage receivers and studs are made from type 316 stainless steel.

Cable Railing Invisi-Studs

   Designed to match up and fit into stud receiver fittings, the invisi-studs are short and compact and must be crimped three times with a 20 inch hand swage tool. These fittings are then inserted into the receiver tube. These fittings are popular because they hide the tool crimp marks as the invisi-stud is sucked up into the receiver fitting. If the cable is measured right, the invisi-stud can be completely hidden in the wood post and, therefore, make for a very streamline appearance. Invisi-stud fittings are available in sizes to fit 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4 inch cable and are made of type 316 stainless steel.

Cable Railing Invisi-Stud Receivers

  Stud receivers are fittings designed to accept invisi-studs and are used almost exclusively in cable rail and balustrade applications. The stud receivers are machined to have a dome or button shape on the end and in that end, have a hex cavity cut into it to accept a hex shaped allen wrench. The stud receiver is a tensioning fitting and once the invisi-stud is inserted into the receiver tube, the receiver is turned using an allen wrench. As the receiver is turned, the invisi-stud is then retracted inside the receiver and the slack in the cable is reduced. Stud receivers come in sizes to accept mating with invisi-studs attached to 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4 inch cable. These fittings are also made of marine grade type 316 stainless steel cable.
